The course begins with a brief overview of Enertech Global , company history, customer support, and product offering. There will be extensive coverage of our four types of geothermal heat pumps along with their unique features. The Training Manual will be covered in depth to allow students to understand the procedures for installation, startup, and performance checks. Attendees will be exposed to ground loop basics. Along with the ground loops, students will be instructed on different style flow centers and antifreeze. Participants will go through a step-by-step explanation of Enertech’s state-of-the-art control system and the unique features it offers. A control board simulator will be used to cycle through all fault codes. Students will thoroughly review refrigeration components and the function of each. Proper methods for verifying the operation of the overall system and individual components will be covered in our service module. Heat of extraction (HE), heat of rejection (HR), subcooling (SC), and superheat (SH) are explained and demonstrated. Refrigerant gauges are seldom used in diagnostics and the participants will learn why they should leave those tools on the truck when servicing Enertech’s geothermal heat pumps.

Prerequisites:

A basic knowledge of the refrigeration cycle, air distribution, and electrical circuits are necessary to gain the full benefit of this program. Students should possess an EPA approved certification for refrigerant handling. EPA certification is required for any certificate of completion other than packaged unit installation.

Sales & Marketing

How do you sell and market “green” in today's economy?

The student will be introduced to Enertech Global’s history, support, and product offering. We will provide answers to questions such as: “what is branding assistance; how can we take full advantage of Enertech’s marketing programs; and how do we generate leads?” Each participant will be provided an arsenal of sales tools. Our financing, wheel of value, and unique self-funded warranty are just a few examples of tools to overcome any obstacle in sales and increase your closure rate. Many great questions will be answered along with many practical applications for our proven marketing strategy and selling techniques. This course is a must for any sales or marketing person who has the desire to be a top performer in sales. Do not be left out in the cold making cold calls and prying open doors.

Student should have HVAC sales experience or be currently working in HVAC sales-related position.

Design Sizing & Software

Would you like to know how to design and size a geothermal system?

Students will learn about Enertech Global’s products and the four basic designs of the company’s geothermal heat pumps, plus the features that are unique to each product. The focus of the course will be on the basic procedures in selection and sizing, from the importance of the initial heat loss and heat gain to the economics of operation. Participants will gain knowledge to clearly evaluate which type of system works best for different applications. Basic duct and zoning design will be discussed along with suggested minimum/maximum airflow requirements. Each attendee will work with several loop field applications by using GeoAnalyst®, Enertech’s proprietary design software. Unit information will allow the program to display comparisons to other fuels, return on investment, and the energy savings of each system. All students will receive various worksheets to be used in the field to aid in design and sizing geothermal systems. At the completion of the course, students will have confidence and direction to properly size and select geothermal heat pumps.

Prerequisites:

Students should have air distribution knowledge – this course does not cover basic duct design and friction loss calculations. Some electrical knowledge about power consumption & terminology is required. Students must have good basic computer skills and a laptop. Prior to class, all students must be registered on GeoAnalyst and have their user name and password.

Fusion & Flushing

What is fusion? Is your mind air-locked about the flushing? Enertech will show you the way to seal and clear the air from your systems.

Correct fusion of the ground loop heat exchanger connections along with proper flushing practices will help to create a fault free operating system. During this 8 hour class, the student will learn proper techniques for socket and butt fusion processes and perform hands on socket fusion. The closed loop flushing procedure will be explained for pressurized and non-pressurized systems. Some application and loop designs will be covered. Flushing and purging is critical to pump life and trouble-free operation. Students will be introduced to the importance of water quality and antifreeze. Calculating proper amounts of antifreeze and testing freeze protection in the training session. At the end of the class students passing the examination will be given a fusion certificate.

Student should possess knowledge of geothermal systems and be aware of safety precautions for working in trenches.

Geothermal Hydronic Systems

Trying to keep your head above water? Let us help you rise up and move ahead!

The student will learn about applications for Enertech’s Water to Water and Combination Units. Complete explanations of the unique features to our product and when to apply each unit will give the student the tools needed to choose the best unit for each application. The attendees will gain knowledge of basic hydronic practices. Feet of head and pressure drop measurements will be discussed and applied to select the proper pump and verify system performance. Radiant heating and air handlers will be evaluated for the sizing of equipment for low water temperature output. Zoning controls and buffer tank information will also be explained for the various systems. A review of the actual heat pump control boards and diagnostic procedures will also be included. Learn how these applications can separate you from your local competition.

Geothermal Troubleshooting

What tests do I perform to determine the reason for a lockout?

This course will review diagnostic steps to allow technicians to use refrigerant gauges as a last resort. Taught by a geothermal technician with many years of field experience, easy steps to determine system issues such as application, sizing or controls or system malfunction will be explained in the troubleshooting process.

Using heat of extraction and heat of rejection, calculations will be covered to determine a geothermal heat pump’s operating condition. Both water side and the refrigerant cycle diagnostic procedures will be explained to quickly uncover a system malfunction. Real troubleshooting situations will be reviewed such as diagnosing TXVs, reversing valves, superheat, subcooling, low flow, lockout board, start components electrical controls and much more.

Key troubleshooting techniques will help build confidence in the technician diagnosis of the system. The class includes some hands on exercises, so class size is limited. This class will fill quickly, so sign up early.

IGSHPA/NATE Certified Installer Workshop

The three-day comprehensive International Ground Source Heat Pump Association workshop is designed for GSHP distributors, HVAC contractors, and trenching/drilling contractors. Upon successful completion of the workshop and passing the IGSHPA/NATE installer’s exam, IGSHPA/NATE accreditation as an installer of GSHP systems will be issued, which includes an installer’s card and a certificate. Workshop fee includes all course materials, a three-year IGSHPA membership and listing as an accredited installer on IGSHPA’s website (once the exam has been passed). This course can only be administered by an IGSHPA/NATE certified proctor.

What brand advantages are important to you?

Students will be introduced to the brand offering, factory, support, and product line. They will learn how to access the “Secure” website and open the doors to various dealer-related information. This site will help answer many product questions. It is a good way to stay current with our manuals, technical literature, sales literature, and many more updates. Also, the instructor will show you how the “public” website works for you and the consumer. Valuable tools such as the dealer locator, consumer savings calculator and product information are at the public’s fingertips. Participants will be educated about unit design and features/benefits, focusing on our multi-position unit which is the only unit currently produced to meet four unit configurations with one SKU. The program will conclude with a brief overview of our state-of-the-art control systems. These controls have impressive diagnostics and simplicity throughout our entire line of equipment.

Prerequisites:

Student should possess basic HVAC knowledge. Course is primarily for dealers who were previously installing another brand of geothermal heat pumps and need to understand the advantages/differences of our brands.
